Below is a photo of a perfect diamond as well as my avatar. A perfect diamond is D- colorless and Flawless or IF- Internally Flawless. Why is it that I say that a perfect diamond is the most beautiful thing in the world?
I have seen so many beautiful materials and nothing come close to a perfect diamond. Most diamonds in the world are tinted yellow or brown and a colorless and flawless perfect diamond accounts for less than 1% of the total diamonds mined each year. Color in a diamond acts as a filter. It filters light and the diamond will have lesser brilliance, fire and scintillation. Flaws and inclusions can also hinder the prismatic effect of color in the diamond. A diamond with the best combination of the 4 C's of diamond value will be the rarest and most beautiful and therefore among the highest prized gems in the world. Although fancy colored diamonds can also be extremely expensive. They will never be as beautiful as white perfect diamonds. These gems are so rare that they have been once reserve for royalties, heads of governments and filmstars. Perhaps, these are the only people who can afford to buy them. These diamonds are one in a hundred million but everyone who knows how to look for them can easily have them. It's only a matter of knowing the right people who can sell them to you at the right time. I have owned one that's why I know how beautiful they are... Hi Virgilio,
That is a lovely image, and although diamonds are not my thing, I do agree with much of what you posted. However, I am a little confused by the youtube music video... what is the correlation besides the title of the song? Lisa

Well, I have to beg to differ on this one.
The concept of a perfect diamond goes beyond simple grading parameters. Diamonds are intended to be romantic and beautiful. But romantic and beautiful do not require a D color grade or a FL clarity grade. It is based on a lot of things such as the intent of the giver and the meaning to the receiver. The committment made by the one buying and the appreciation of the one receiving. One of the first lessons I ever learned in this business happened like this: An old diamond dealer in Dallas Texas once asked me if I knew the definition of a perfect diamond. I answered as we read here: D/FL He answered that I was wrong. If only D/FL diamonds were considered the most beautiful then few people in the world would bother to buy diamonds. He then told me what I will never forget: The most beautiful diamond in the world is the one that just walked out the door as SOLD. Perhaps the guy could only afford a K/SI1. Then that diamond becomes the most beautiful in the world to him, and to his intended. So don't judge the most beautiful diamond as being of a perfect grading. I have seen far more J/SI2 that were considered far more beautiful than any D/FL for the above reasons. Robert |

Beautifully said RJ!
I agree, it's the meaning and intent of the diamond that makes it beautifull. |

Very beautifully written!! I agree with you totally!! I have a very tiny marquis diamond in my engagement ring from my hubby and I will tell you it is the most beautiful diamond I have ever or will ever receive!! None will ever compare to the thought and love that went into that purchase.
Having said that, now if he would only find more............. Just kidding!!Dee

Thanks RJ for giving me a new perspective. As I said, I am not a fan nor a lover of diamonds and was reading the post as it was written, with the technical details in mind.
I still haven't figured out the significance of the youtube video yet... Lisa

Well said RJ!
I do agree with Lisa though, Diamonds are not really my thing either. I find there are much more beautiful stones out there! Now, rough Diamonds with a good crystal structure, are a different story, lol. |

A Perfect Diamond is One In A Million And once in a lifetime.
I do agree with the posts here and I find it romantic and sentimental. But I have to stick on my first post. Perfection is science and there is science to beauty. Talking about personal taste. It will vary from person to person. Bcoz what is beautiful for you may not be beautiful for me. What is beautiful for me may not be beautiful for you. But like I said. There is the utimate form of beauty. All diamonds may appear the desame. I remember seeing diamonds for the first time and I thought why would I buy a more expensive diamond when in fact they kinda look the desame to me. Kinda! Bcoz even as a novice I already knew why some diamonds are more expensive than the others and that is bcoz of their increased beauty and rarity. When I was able to see higher quality diamonds. In terms of cut, color and clarity. The ugly diamonds I once owned started to appear uglier when compared to the best ones. When I see a G color. I thought it was the whitest diamond in the world! When I owned a High D color. Everything else change. The G color appears darker and have less beauty. Once you see the best of the very best. The next best thing will start to show easier. I had developed this keen eye for the most beautiful diamonds in the world. To the point that is even better than most jewelers I have known. I have seen and owned perfection. Now I know how it looks like. I'm contented. I can buy the next best thing and sell them like it is the most beautiful diamond in the world and the client will believe me. Why? Bcoz I am a scientist. And I always tell the truth. If all the things in this world are the desame. Then what is the difference between you and me? Even twins have differences and no two diamonds are alike. Even perfect ones have variables and the best eyes sees the best difference. Diamonds are forever... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jo_dV7E4aIQ
